Your personal guide, Stel Cusmiani, is the owner and a 42 year veteran of the Australian wine industry specialising in wine education, winery tours, sales and account management for boutique through to major accounts. StelaVino Guided Wine Tours, South East Tasmania, offers a full day to discover Tasmania’s award winning wines, tempting food and incredible scenery. This tour is a privately owned and operated business committed to providing THE very best wine tour experiences and a memorable day amongst the vines. No one will care for you like the owner will, it’s his passion after all. This is not a bus tour, it’s a tour with a man who will share his lifetime of knowledge amongst the grapes. Grapes have played an important role in the development of Tasmania – William Bligh planted the first grapes in Tasmania in 1788 at Adventure Bay on Bruny Island. In 1803 the first vines were planted on the shores of the Derwent, but the industry did not take root and grow until the 1970’s ….come on the tour and find out why. StelaVino offers a full day wine tour each in one or more of the 4 sub-regions, including lunch and a complimentary glass of wine. You will sample award winning, cool climate wines as we visit 5 vineyard/cellar doors in one of the 4 sub-regions each day – the Coal River Valley / Huon Valley and D’Entrecasteaux Channel / The Derwent Valley and the southern tip of the east coast region. Our 12 seater Renault will collect and transport you to each cellar door before returning to our drop off point at the end of a very enjoyable day.
Our tours are a non-judgemental, fun day out. Your guided tour may cover 1 or more regions in the one day. The wineries/vineyards visited each day will vary due to the vagaries of living “on” and “off” the land. Each day’s itinerary is up to the people we visit who own and work the land. Emergency netting, Seasonal duties, pump failures, etc all play a part in our schedule. We will know our day’s adventure 24 hours before departure. My aim is to ensure that by day’s end you will have enough knowledge and information to be confident and comfortable to evaluate and talk about wine. Even though the 60 plus vineyards surrounding, and within 20 to 45 minutes of Hobart are close to the city’s centre, the vineyards of the east, northwest and south/southwest areas offer different climatic and geological elements that influence the flavours in the grape and hence the flavours in wine produced. Don’t see a region that interests you? Contact us and let us know where you would like to visit and we will do our best to accommodate!
