South-East Tasmania can have 4 seasons in 1 day – I advise you to bring a warm Coat /Jacket/ Hoodie of some kind…just in case. The Tasmanian sun is intense and you can burn quickly, don’t forget a hat and your 50+. We may go inside a working winery where the wearing “Closed-toe” footwear (shoes) is a stringent, legal, safety requirement. You do not want to miss out on any section of the tour.
There is NO sharing or disclosure of any of our customers’ personal detail with any third party – All details given to StelaVino Guided Wine Tours, including Credit Card details are solely used for the smooth operation of our tour.
The Liquor Licensing Act of 1990 requires the following: All Customers must be 18 years and Older to participate in the tour. Each winery cellar door we visit ensures that alcohol served on the tour is done so in a responsible manner. It is the responsibility of the customer to consume alcohol safely, and in accordance with their dietary requirements; including food intolerances and allergies. It is also the responsibility of the customer to NOT drive a vehicle if they have consumed alcohol that places them over the legal limits.
Included in StelaVino’s Guided Wine Tour is a lunch prepared from fresh local Tassie produce accompanied with a glass of wine. If you have any special dietary requirements, please email us at email@example.com and we will arrange an alternative main meal for lunch where possible.
There are 4 distinct wine regions in close proximity to Hobart, and over 100 sub-regions with some unique aspects of terroir. To get an understanding of the scope and variety of South Eastern Tasmania’s wines we have broken down our tours into 4 areas – Your guided tour may cover 1 or more regions in the one day. The wineries/vineyards visited each day will vary due to the vagaries of living “on” and “off” the land. Each day’s itinerary is up to the people we visit who own and work the land. Emergency netting, Seasonal duties, pump failures, weather conditions, etc all play a part in our schedule. We will know our day’s adventure 24 hours before departure. Coal River Valley and surrounds: Deep, rich soils, black cracking clay above rich limestone veins and an abundance of water and sunshine results in some unique aspects of terroir that impart wonderful flavours to the wines produced here. Derwent River Valley and surrounds: The alluvial river soils, over 30 million years old, and the calcareous limestone that snakes its way beneath the topsoil alongside the wide expanse of water that the Derwent River provides, combined with the incredibly low rainfall gives this region something different – and their wines show this difference. Huon Valley / Channel and surrounds: This is the region that is the LAST to pick pinot noir in Australia – find out why, and how they differ from the rest. Hidden Treasures: those very small, boutique, family growers and producers that many never get to hear of, let alone visit and taste their wonderful wine. You will talk to the person/s that till the soil; plant the vines; pick the grapes and produce the wine!
